1. The Origin of Jinchuan Pear Trees

As early as the late Ming Dynasty (about 400 years ago), the Jiarong Tibetans widely planted snow pear trees here, which are both cold-resistant and have medicinal properties. Therefore, Jinchuan is one of the birthplaces of the world’s white pear.

Today, Jinchuan County’s snow pear plantations cover 42,000 mu (about 6,900 acres), stretching over more than a hundred miles along the Dajin Chuan River, with over 1.1 million trees. It is the world’s largest high-altitude, eco-friendly snow pear cultivation area. With a permanent population of only 57,200 in the entire county, there are roughly 19 pear trees for every resident.
